Picture of the Week

A candid shot of an otherwise unassuming brick wall but in the right light as the sun came out from behind the clouds, colour is everything!

The Blue Mountains

Having just got hold of a Nikon F5 after many years of being tempted, here a few pictures from a weekend trip to Katoomba and surrounds.

Latest Roll

Here is the contact sheet from my latest roll of film, Provia 100F.

STS-135 Atlantis

30 years after Columbia first flew, the shuttle Atlantis is set to lift off from Cape Canaveral on July the 8th for the final flight of the program. Albeit weather permitting. The shuttles have contributed to science, exploration, engineering and nearly every field of study in so many ways. They have been an icon for space travel, performing their duties routinely for three decades despite there being nothing routine about their missions. But why go into space? Well, to take picture of course! The harsh elementary environment of space has provided us with some of the most stunning images. The initial development of modern cameras can also be attributed to the needs of NASA and its astronauts. Given this, I have written a brief article on the history of Nikon in space to highlight the achievements made.

First roll of Kodak Ektachrome 100VS

Finally the results from my first roll of Kodak Ektachrome are back and in my hands! They look fantastic with wild vivid colours and seem to be stable over longer exposures. The colours are not quite as saturated as Velvia 50, particularily reds but that’s expected. I would certainly have no problem using this film again under almost any lighting.

Picture of the Week

Little Sugarloaf Rock as the sun sets. A happy place that one day I will show to someone who has always made me smile.

The Great Debate

Fuji Velvia has, for many years now, always been the number one choice of reversal film users. However, lets not forget that Kodak started it all off long before. The choice between the two usually calls for a good argument between photographers. All my pictures thus far have been on Fujifilm. That is until I bought my first roll of Kodak Ektachrome E100VS. Its currently in the camera so wait out on the results!

Less is More?

A simple image but does a minimalist approach give it more?
