Black and White
As the increasing shift towards vibrant and colourful digital images continues, is there a place left for black and white? Well yes, there is. Black and white is still the industry standard, especially in the world of portraits. No model should ever leave home without their black and white 8×10’s! So why is the absence of colour so important? It separates good pictures from great pictures by removing all distractions. Colours pre-determine our judgment of an image by the moods and ideas they create. Black and white however, doesn’t. It focuses you to the most important aspect, the direct and indirect behaviour of light. An image varying only in tone can often produce a profound effect given the right subject.
